Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is one of the most critically acclaimed movies in recent history, with fans and critics praising its superhero team-up. With Thanos at the center of this saga, here are 50 quotes from his journey to hell and back.
“I am Thanos. I am Death. Destroyer of Worlds.”
Thanos is one of the most memorable villains to ever grace the silver screen. The Mad Titan is also one of the most well-known villains in comic books. Here are the finest Thanos quotes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and comics.
The Most Memorable Thanos Quotes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe
“It’s unavoidable.”
Start with one of Thanos’ most famous phrases, which he spoke several times throughout his MCU tenure. This is the final time we hear him utter it, according to the picture (I hope not).
“You’re tough, but I could just click my fingers and you’d all vanish. For salvation, it’s a tiny price to pay.”
With all six Infinite Stones, Thanos acknowledges that the Avengers are powerful, as seen by his comment from Avengers: Infinity War… They vanish with a flick of his fingers.
“This cosmos is limited, as are its resources. Life will cease to exist if it is not regulated.”
With this comment from Avengers: Infinity War, he was probably correct, but his method was not the best. We also realized that this wasn’t exactly what he was searching for in the end. He was just a Mad Titan in the end.
“You’re a real warrior. Gamora. Come. Allow me to assist you. [Thanos extends his hand to her; she wraps her tiny fingers around one gigantic finger, and he brings her to a pavilion, where he crouches to her eye level once again and retrieves a little – for him – red-jeweled handle. Razor-sharp blades emerge from both ends when the switch is pressed.] Look. Isn’t it lovely? Everything is perfectly balanced, as it should be…. Too much emphasis on one side or the other… [He balances it on one finger, purposely overbalances it, and catches it.] Here. “You give it your all.”
From Avengers: Infinity War, another Thanos quote (there will be a lot from this movie). He explains to Gamora why he’s performing all those dreadful things in his thoughts and attempts to teach her his methods. But, as he quickly discovers, it won’t be that simple.
“When it comes to balancing the cosmos, fun isn’t something that comes to mind. But this… brings a grin to my face.”
We seldom saw him grin; he was a guy on a mission, not someone out to have a good time. He did, however, grin from time to time, as seen by this statement (in between destroying half the universe). This phrase came close to making it into Avengers: Infinity War, but it ended up just appearing in the teaser and deleted sequences.
“You aren’t the only one who has been plagued by knowledge.”
For the first time, Stark and Mad Titan go head to head. Some obscenities are said, and we learn that Iron Man isn’t the only one who suffers from nightmares. Thanos seems to be fantasizing about him as well.
“You have my admiration, Stark.” Half of mankind will still be alive after I’m through. “I’m hoping they remember who you are.”
He gives credit where credit is due! Thanos overcomes Iron Man in this spectacular and already classic moment, and in this beautiful phrase, he tells us how much respect he has for him.
“The job is over. I came out on top. I’m going to appreciate what I’m about to do. “Thank you very much!”
In this Thanos comment, we can see that his purpose isn’t only to’save’ the cosmos from too much life, but that he is a Mad Titan who relishes wreaking havoc.
“I understand what it’s like to be defeated. To believe so strongly that you are correct yet still fail. It’s terrifying, and it makes your legs jelly. To what purpose, I ask? I’m dreading it. Get away from it. Regardless, fate strikes. It’s finally here. “Or should I say, I am,” says the narrator.

Few have succeeded in defeating Thor, but no one has ever managed to beat Thor, Hulk, and Loki all at the same time, with the exception of Thanos. This is, without a doubt, my favorite Thanos phrase, and it’s easy to understand why.
“Undying? You should be more cautious with your language.”
It seems that Loki was correct in this regard. It seems that he is indeed ‘undying.’ Well, maybe not Loki in that form, but still… Another well-placed Thanos remark.
“I’ve already disobeyed my fate, and I won’t do it again.” For you, too. Please accept my apologies, Little One.”
Thanos had a heart, as we’ve seen, and he threw it down the cliff. Something like that needs a strong will. Also, a totally insane mind, but that’s okay. Thanos’ comment has an impact on us in ways we didn’t anticipate.
“You were scrounging for leftovers and going to bed hungry.” Your world was on the verge of collapsing. I was the one who put a stop to it. What’s occurred since then, do you know? The youngsters that were born have only known full bellies and clear sky. It’s a dream come true.”
Thanos, the hero? Is it possible? It’s all in his brain, however. Even if his reasoning made sense, he could simply manufacture more of everything instead of destroying it. Nonetheless, a great speech from a Mad Titan.
“Everything.”
Thanos just says one word in this phrase, yet it signifies “everything” to us and him. Even for a monster like him, this is a really moving scenario.
“The toughest decisions need the strongest willpower.”
He demonstrates his strong determination once again. The Avengers want to rescue the Earth and the universe, while he intends to destroy it, or at least half of it.
“I finally take a break and gaze out the window at a thankful world.” The toughest decisions need the most powerful willpower.”
Thanos repeats his famous phrase again again, this time lower in strength but still strong-willed. In the video above, you can compare and contrast both quotes.
“I reasoned that by removing half of life, the remaining half would flourish. But, as you’ve shown, that’s impossible. There will always be people who cannot embrace what can be as long as there are others who recall what was. They’ll fight back..”
Before beating their butts, he gave the Avengers an awesome speech. In Avengers: Endgame, this calm remark occurs right before the chaos.
“I’ve arrived at my destination. Because I’m sick of trying to hide who I am. “I’m not the person I was born to be.”
Thanos on Titan, with yet another profound phrase from Avengers: Infinity War. He was full of it on Titan, and he was posting those remarks left and right.
“You should have gone straight for the head.”
We witness how strong his determination is again in the scenario when he is nearly defeated. Despite his suffering and the presence of Stormbreaker in his shoulder, he manages to vanquish half of the universe. Even God wasn’t able to stop him.
“With the stones you’ve gathered for me, I’ll tear this universe down to its last atom and then construct a new one. It’s not about what’s gone, but about what’s been given… a thankful world.”
Thanos learnt to despise the Avengers, as well as the whole Earth, the second time around, or for him the first time. He decided to teach them a lesson this time (or he was taught a lesson), and now he wants to destroy the whole universe, not just half of it. After that, he wants to construct his own world of gratitude.
“You couldn’t bear the humiliation of your own failure.” “Did it bring you back to me?” says the narrator.
An incredible sequence, one of the finest in the film, was followed by not one, but two incredible statements, or, to put it another way, a lengthier Thanos speech. The second portion of this phrase was previously quoted above, but you can see both halves of it in this video.
With this incredible Thanos phrase, we’ll wrap up the movie portion of our list and move on to the finest Thanos lines from comic books.
Marvel Comics’ Most Memorable Thanos Quotes
“I know it seems ridiculous, but… I have the impression that I can recall the day I was born on occasion. I recall the first time you held me in your arms and the expression of… terror on your face. Then you took a scalpel and attempted to kill me. Please accept my apologies, mama. I’m sorry they didn’t allow it.”
In Thanos Rising Vol. 1 #003, Thanos quotes his mother, Sui-San.
“The Goddess, who seems to be all-powerful, has enlisted the help of some of Earth’s most powerful and virtuous heroes. They battle for a cause they are passionate about, even if it is erroneous. Your comrades, on the other hand, have Thanos of Titan as an ally. Granted, it’s a questionable honor, but it also comes with a distinct benefit.”
In Infinity Crusade, Thanos talks about his opponents and himself.
“I, Thanos, look out into the frigid void of space and reflect on my life. Both, I’ve discovered, are empty.”
In Thanos Quest, Thanos delivers a monologue on his less-than-impressive existence.
“Earth. That is the cost of my services.”
Infinity Gauntlet quotes Thanos.
“I’ve got the galaxy in my hand, ready to break like an eggshell!” All who resist me shall perish, and the Earthian superheroes are the first to perish! “Destroy them as soon as possible!”
In Marvel Feature Vol 1 #12, Thanos expresses his hatred for the Avengers with this phrase.
“A Death disciple… against a Lord of Destruction.” So, Darkseid, tell me… “Would you want to place a bet on the result?”
In Marvel Versus DC Vol 1 #2, Thanos quotes from the war of the comic worlds.
“Thousands of diverse species have flourished beyond the capabilities of their environments to maintain them, thanks to science and a benign nature.”
Silver Surfer Vol 3 #35 has a Thanos quote.
“To claim Thanos, Death’s closest servant, would abandon his offspring!” That is really inexcusable.”
From Silver Surfer Vol 3 #38, another amazing Thanos remark.
“Your destiny will weigh heavily on my heart, even if it shouldn’t.” You were not compelled to fight me. I offered you the option of giving up the Gem. You compelled me to do what I did. I have to stay true to myself. “I am Thanos, after all.”
Thanos is always true to his nature, as you can see in Thanos Quest Vol 1 #1.
“Because I’ve been converted!” I’m no longer on the mortal plane! In reality, I have descended from the throne of godhood! Even heavenly status is no longer an option for me! The Infinity Gems have granted me Supreme Being power!”
In Silver Surfer Vol 3 #44, Thanos becomes one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful entities.
“Destiny does not wait for anybody.” Not even one who is capable of bringing the whole cosmos to its knees.”
When Thanos is involved, it’s always ‘destiny’ somewhere, and this remark is from Silver Surfer Vol 3 #49.
“Only I have peered into the darkest recesses of your soul… and recognize you for who you really are.”
Thanos has access to your deepest, darkest secrets, as revealed in Silver Surfer Vol 3 #50.
“Idiots picking up weapons in the face of omnipotence. They charge straight into Armageddon. As a result, I’ll supply them with a spectacular end-of-the-world scenario! The sky will be crimson with blood. But, in the end, Thanos will prevail, as he always does.”
At the very least, one can never accuse Thanos of being humble! In Infinity Gauntlet Vol 1 #3, a few obnoxious superheroes stood in his path.
“Do you know who I’m talking about, Mistress Death?” “Will you also betray me?”
Even his greatest love has deserted him in Infinity Gauntlet Vol 1 #5.
“At this time, no living creature in the cosmos will perish.” Neither the most humble bacterium nor the most majestic Celestial. While stars collide and disintegrate, everything that has “life” refuses to perish. Despite its fate, everything continues to exist, defying evolution’s culling of the weak. Wilson, anything but you. I’m the only reason you’re still alive. You will perish because Thanos has decreed it.”
You can read about it in Deadpool vs. Thanos Vol 1 #1. Thanos is one of only two persons who has managed to kill Deadpool.
“They have shown to the galaxy, once and for all, that they are a swarm of reckless, unevolved animals that must be exterminated before they kill us all.” Peter, say your goodbyes to your home world. When news comes out that they’ve torn reality to shreds… Nothing will be able to rescue them. And now you see why your father was correct. Thanos, I was correct. It is necessary to punish the Earth.”
All malevolent cosmic creatures, including Thanos, aim to destroy Earth. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 #5, nothing is changing.
“According to him, you were a failed experiment… a runt, a weakling, believed unlikely to endure the tests’ rigour You were doomed from the moment you were born, yet you survived. Even thrived. That is something I appreciate.”
Thanos expresses his admiration for Deadpool with this statement. We all know how difficult it is to get, yet he did so in Deadpool vs. Thanos Vol 1 #3.
“You’d think my reputation would precede me by now…”
Some folks are hard to believe. They still have no idea who the Mad Titan is after all this time. Look for it in Thanos Vol. 1 #8.
“I came here in search of my father.” I didn’t come here looking for a battle. Today, no one else needed to die. However, if you want a fight, you will get it. If death is what you choose, death is what you will get.”
Thanos is never the one who runs away from a battle, and this is no exception in Thanos Vol 2 #3.
“I am Titan’s Thanos. I’ve conquered whole planets. I’ve twisted reality to fit my desires. Men shrink back at the mention of my name. And now you’ve put me in jail, ridiculed me, and mistreated me. And here you are, poised to take advantage of my predicament. I’m ready to be finished. So, if I’m going to die, I’m going to show you all that Thanos will not be disregarded. Thanos continues to be a conqueror. Thanos is still a combatant. Thanos is still regarded as a deity. And either you will kneel or you will be broken!”
As shown in Thanos Vol 2 #6, which is part of this three-book series, disrespecting the Mad Titan is not a smart idea.
“Despite its title or claim, Asgardian, strength and energy are the same. Thanos of Titan is unimpressed by your alleged celestial rank.”
Even a true God cannot frighten Thanos. As stated in the above quotation from the Warlock and the Infinity Watch #25, the Mad Titan is not terrified of the all-powerful Odin.
“I didn’t ask for your confidence. “All I want is for your obedience.”
Thanos simply requires a few things, and you must be ready to comply as quickly as possible in Secret Defenders Vol 1 #12.
“In this big play, there are many performers, and I, Thanos, seem to be the only one who has a complete understanding of the situation.”
There is only one primary figure on the stage, Thanos the Mad Titan, no matter how large it is! This Thanos phrase can be found in Infinity Crusade Vol 1 #4.
“Behind each door, a treasure trove awaits.” The abundance is as varied as the constellations in the sky. The golden aim I want, though, is the most valuable of all. “More illumination.”
Thanos has loftier ambitions than most other beings in the cosmos, as revealed in Warlock and the Infinity Watch Vol 1 #10.
“”It’s all work and no pleasure.” “Words worth living by.”
As revealed in Silver Surfer Vol 3 #59, Thanos never plays fairly; he just has objectives and the tactics to achieve them are unimportant.
“Then fan the glint into a blazing blaze!” “Let the fight begin!”
Thanos was never one to back down from a battle. In a remark on the first page of the Infinity Gauntlet Vol 1 #4 comic, he even says so.
“What does it matter if three souls perish… when the whole universe is mine to command?”
Thanos doesn’t have time for little details; he’s focused on the larger picture, as demonstrated in Cloak and Dagger Vol 3 #18.
“Elders aren’t the only ones who can deceive.”
Thanos has all the moves, so you must be very cautious. In Thanos Quest Vol 1 #2, you can witness his cheating and this comment.
“Mar-Vell, you’ve gone too far!” Bringing in the Avengers may cause my plans to be delayed!”
Even Thanos is aware that his intentions may be thwarted at times, which is why he despises the Avengers. This Thanos remark can be found in Captain Marvel Vol 1 #31.
“The wicked has been severely crushed today.”
In Infinity War Vol 1 #6, Thanos is on the side of good, with his own goal.
Thanos is a Marvel Comics supervillain who has appeared in several media adaptations. His most famous quote is “I am inevitable.” He appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be portrayed by Josh Brolin in the upcoming film Avengers: Infinity War. Reference: thanos quotes i am inevitable.
