It’s the annual time of spooky, scary fun for The Simpsons. Each October on FOX, the network airs a themed episode of their long running hit show which features some new twists on staples from previous seasons along with three different stories throughout each hour-long broadcast. This year the Treehouse had five episodes and they really went all out! Here are my thoughts on what I thought was good about them…

“Treehouse of Horror 3” by The Simpsons (Season 4, Episode 5)
The Simpsons is one of the longest-running shows on television. While many criticize the show’s final seasons and label it a zombie that refuses to die, it has served as a landmark for generations of fans. Every Halloween, even the skeptics are enticed back for a Simpsons tradition: The Treehouse of Horror.
Various horror tales are parodied in Treehouse programs. It has grown to encompass science fiction and parodies of current popular films throughout the years. We put in the time and effort to watch roughly a hundred portions of each episode for you. So, which of the Treehouses of Horror should you watch and which should you avoid? Let’s have a look.

#5 Horror Treehouse 4
The Devil and Daniel Webster, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula are all parodies.
[over an intercom] Count Burns: “Welcome! Please come in!” “Ah, more zombie victims for my ever-growing army.” “Sir, you must release the button,” Smithers says. “Oh, sonuva!” exclaims Burns.
“Treehouse of Horror #4” is the fourth installment in the “Treehouse of Horror” series (Season 5, Episode 5)
Our inaugural Treehouse of Horror is the last to employ a framing mechanism to connect the parts. As he exposes us to these terrifying tales, Bart pays tribute to NBC’s Night Gallery.
Homer Simpson sells his soul to the devil (Ned Flanders) for a doughnut in The Devil and Homer Simpson. He attempts to outwit Flanders by not completing it, but eats it as a midnight snack without thinking. Lisa persuades Flanders to arrange a trial in order to establish her father’s innocence, but will they be able to convince the Damned Jury?
Nightmare at 5 1/2 Feet is a horror film with a twist. Bart is being shaken by a nightmare. He notices a gremlin on the side of the bus that no one else can see on his route to school. The kids and professors believe he is insane, but Bart can see the bus collapsing. Will he be able to persuade them of the danger before the gremlin murders everyone?
Springfield residents are assaulted by a strange bloodsucker in Bart Simpson’s Dracula. Mr. Burns welcomes the Simpsons to his new castle, where strange things happen. Bart is soon transformed into a vampire and begins spreading the curse. Is it possible to rescue him while also putting an end to the vampires?
What’s the Point of This Episode? The first half of the show is hilarious, with many unforgettable gags like Homer eating one of Hell’s punishments or Richard Nixon claiming that he shouldn’t be on the jury since he is still alive. The second is a bit of a mishmash, while the third revels in all of the vampire stereotypes they get to play with.
#4 Horror Treehouse 20
Strangers on a Train, 28 Days Later, and Sweeney Todd are all parodies.
Schwarzenegger: [while blowing zombies away] “If you want to live, come with me!” “Another politician who can’t meet his promises,” Homer says as zombies swarm Schwarzenegger.
20th Treehouse of Horror (Season 21, Episode 4)
The Simpsons’ latter seasons aren’t as popular, but they may still produce a hit now and again.
Bart and Lisa are mistreated by their professors in Dial M for Murder (or Press # to Return to the Main Menu). Lisa makes the mistake of agreeing to murder Bart’s teacher while he kills hers, but she later regrets it. Bart attempts to persuade Lisa to complete the transaction, but she kills him so that no one knows she was involved. As sibling rivalry gives way to sibling survival of the fittest, who will emerge victorious?
If you don’t have a cow, you’re out of luck. When people eat burgers contaminated with a virus, a zombie apocalypse occurs in the town. The Simpsons quickly discover that Bart is immune, but they’ll have to battle their way to safety against an army of zombies. Will they be able to make it?
There isn’t a company like Moe’s. Business is unusual in that it is presented as an in-story theatrical play. Homer gets impaled on Moe’s new microbrew machine, and his blood is mixed into the drink, much to the delight of the audience. While company is booming, Moe devises a scheme to capture Marge’s affection by convincing her that Homer has abandoned her. Will she be able to uncover the truth?
Why this Episode? Because of the black-and-white thriller movie cinematography in the first part and the catchy musical numbers in the final, this special was more creative than others. For those who prefer gore and horror over tension and drama, the zombie narrative is a delightful spoof.
#3 The Haunted Treehouse 6
A Nightmare on Elm Street parodies, Little Girl Lost parodies
Willie: [burnt to a crisp] “You’ll pay for it with the blood of your children!” “Oh?” says Chief Wiggum. What’s more, how are you going to obtain them? “Power of the Skeleton?” “I’ll attack where ye can’t defend them: in their dreams!” Willie says.
“Treehouse of Horror 6” is the sixth installment in the “Treehouse of Horror” series (Season 7, Episode 6)
The majority of Treehouse of Horror programs are entertaining but ultimately forgettable. This one was excellent enough to get an Emmy nomination.
Homer steals a big doughnut from a mascot in the Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores. The mascot and many of his contemporaries are brought to life by a storm. They go on a rampage, slaughtering everybody who is in their way. Even returning the doughnut is ineffective. Is there any way for the Simpsons to stop them?
Groundskeeper Willie, a reoccurring figure in Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace, kills children in their nightmares. Bart and Lisa discover that Willie’s spirit has vowed vengeance on the PTA for allowing him to die. The only way to stop him is to go into the dream realm, but how can you kill an undead reality warper on his own turf?
Homer3 has a lot of cool features. To escape spending time with his sisters-in-law, Homer wandered into the third dimension by mistake. This is a wonderful goal. His friends and family try to find a method to return him home while he travels the strange world of mid-90s CGI, but will they succeed?
What’s the Point of This Episode? The first section has a lot of funny jokes and a narrative that seems to be innovative. The second involves a lethal menace, creative pursuit sequences, and legendary lines (“Lousy Smarch weather.”) The final film is a little weaker, but the CGI was incredible at the time and still looks good now.
#2 The Haunted Treehouse 5
The Shining, A Sound of Thunder, and Soylent Green are all parodies.
“Boy, you read my mind!” Willie exclaims. “You’ve got the Shinning!” exclaims the narrator. “You mean Shining,” Bart says. “Shh!” says Willie. “Do you want to get sued?”
“Treehouse of Horror 5” is the fifth installment in the “Treehouse of Horror” series (Season 6, Episode 6)
During the production of this special in 1994, Congress protested that The Simpsons was too violent. Showrunner David Mirkin accepted the challenge and went all-out to illustrate how brutal The Simpsons could be.
The Simpsons are shown caring for Mr. Burns in a winter lodge in The Shinning. To get Homer to perform his job, he takes away the TVs and all of the beer, but this drives him insane. Bart also discovers that he has a famous psychic skill that might infringe on certain trademarks. Is it going to be enough to rescue him from his ruthless father?
Time and Punishment have taken their toll. While attempting to repair his toaster, Homer travels into the past. He accidently crushes a bug and returns to his time, when Flanders is the ruler of the planet. He goes back in time to change the future, but he makes another mistake. Homer alternates between the past and the future, attempting to correct his error and hoping that his next jump will be the leap home. Will he be able to reverse what he’s done?
Springfield Elementary has been overtaken by juvenile delinquents thanks to the Nightmare Cafeteria. When Principal Skinner spills food on a bully, he notices that the youngster is delectable. Delinquents are killed and fed to the pupils by the professors. Will Bart and Lisa be able to get away, or will they be next on the menu?
What’s the Point of This Episode? There isn’t a single terrible portion among them. The first is a fantastic parody that doesn’t need viewers to be familiar with the underlying material. The second has intriguing other worlds, while the third is one of the most terrifying Treehouse episodes. The cherry on top is ending the evening with a sick and funny parody of One from A Chorus Line.
Treehouse of Horror 3 is the first installment in the Treehouse of Horror series.
Living Doll, King Kong, and Night of the Living Dead are all parodies.
“Dad, you killed the Zombie Flanders!” exclaims Bart. “He was a zombie?” says Homer.
“Horror Treehouse” 3 (Season 4, Episode 5)
The telling of ghost tales is a long-standing Halloween custom. In our most popular Treehouse of Horror episode, The Simpsons tell three stories while entertaining guests.
Homer forgets to buy Bart a birthday gift at the opening of Clown Without Pity. A mystery trader sells him a Krusty the Clown doll. While Bart enjoys his present, the doll tries to kill Homer on multiple occasions. Will he be able to withstand the teeny-tiny terror? What exactly does it have against him?
Mr. Burns hires Marge as bait for an expedition to Ape Island in King Homer, which takes place in the 1930s. The Indians kidnap her and attempt to sacrifice her to Homer, a huge ape. Homer is sedated and brought to New York by the expedition members, where he runs wild. Will King Homer be more fortunate than Kong?
While preparing a book report in Dial Z for Zombies, Bart comes upon a cursed magic book. He attempts to resuscitate Lisa’s deceased cat with a spell, but instead unleashes a zombie apocalypse. A counter spell is the only way to halt the dead, but the book is at the school. To preserve the planet, the Simpsons must battle their way through an army of the dead.
Why This Episode? : This episode came out on top by a razor-thin margin. The cursed frogurt dialogue is one of several legendary exchanges and jokes in the opening half. The second half is a beautifully rendered black-and-white portion that faithfully recreates scenes from King Kong. Despite being about zombies, the finale is a funny narrative that provided the horrors without depending on blood and guts.
Not That!
Treehouse of Horror #5 (of 26)
Godzilla, Chronicle are two parodies.
“Once again, we just have a cameo!” exclaims Kodos. “Don’t complain or they’ll put us in 4:3!” Kang says. Ohhh, they’re doing it now!” [the screen shrinks] “Just because it seems like season 4 isn’t going to be season 4!” says Kodos.
26th Treehouse of Horror (Season 27, Episode 5)
When brilliant ideas are mishandled, they may be ruined. This episode has the potential to be fantastic.
The film Wanted: Dead, Then Alive is based on the book Wanted: Dead, Then A Sideshow, Bart’s archenemy He was ultimately killed by Bob. Bob is shocked to discover that murdering Bart was the only thing he had going for him. He invents a mechanism to revive Bart and kills him in the most heinous manner possible. Will he and his family be able to rescue Bart?
Homerzilla takes place in post-World War II Japan. To keep the titular monster at away, Grandpa Simpson tosses donuts out to sea. Homerzilla emerges to destroy Japan once he dies and the donuts cease. It then turns to the real world, where studio officials determine that the film is so horrible that it has to be remade with a massive budget. Is the remake going to be a hit?
Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse achieve telekinesis in Telepaths of Glory, a found video short. The Simpson kids enjoy their new abilities, but Milhouse goes insane and seeks vengeance on anybody who has harmed him. Is it possible for Bart and Lisa to stop him?
What’s the Point of This Episode? Beyond a death montage, the opening part showed potential but lacked meat. The second was the polar opposite of Treehouse 3’s King Homer. That one made fun of Kong enthusiasts, whereas Homerzilla made fun of Godzilla supporters. With a moderately fascinating idea, the last portion was plain uninteresting.
#4 Horror Treehouse 17
The Blob, The Golem of Prague, and The War of the Worlds are all parodies.
“Do you feel horrible about what you did?” Lisa asks. “Of course I’m sorry!” Golem says. My stomach feels as though it’s holding a Chabad telethon and Norm Crosby is going off the deep end. [reads one of the scrolls vomited] Kill the Tsar?! “Now there’s an oldie.”
“Treehouse of Horror 17” is the seventeenth installment in the “Treehouse of Horror” series (Season 18, Episode 4)
Boredom, not awful, may be an issue at times. This special’s destiny is sealed.
Homer discovers a fallen meteor and eats the goop he discovers within in Married to the Blob. As he rampages around the town, consuming obese individuals until he changes into a big green blob, his already voracious appetite skyrockets. Will his family and special guest Dr. Phil be able to communicate with him?
You’ve Got to Know When to Golem is a segment from You’ve Got to Know When to Golem In Krusty’s prop room, Bart discovers the mythical Golem of Prague. He employs the clay monster to assassinate his foes and torture his professors. The Golem gains consciousness thanks to Lisa, but its newfound passion of kvetching drives the family insane. Will they be able to persuade this meshugganah monster to smile?
The Day the Earth Stood Stupid is a 1930s film that includes Orson Welles’ famous War of the Worlds hoax. Springfield goes insane with extraterrestrial anxiety until they find out it was all a fake. But what would the jaded people do if aliens arrive?
Why is this episode being shown? : This special is just plain dull. Apart from a spoof of “Baby Got Back” and seeing the blob swallow Dr. Phil, the first portion has nothing to offer. The last portion is a complete snoozefest. At the very least, the middle section is entertaining and features a lesser-known legendary monster.
#3 Horror Treehouse 12
Thinner, Demon Seed, and Harry Potter parodies
[A Romani curse has been placed on Homer] “I was cursed by a troll once, but a leprechaun repaired it right up,” Carl says. “Y’know what’s better is Jesus,” Lenny says. He reminds me of six leprechauns.” “Yes, but it’s a lot more difficult to capture,” Carl says. “Leave it to the leprechaun.” –
12th Treehouse of Horror (Season 13, Episode 1)
This episode marked the conclusion of a period of time. It was the final one, and instead of Treehouse of Horror, it was dubbed “The Simpsons Halloween Special.” It’s very bad that the title didn’t end on a high note.
The Simpsons visit a Romani fortune teller in Hex and the City. When Homer unintentionally damages her workplace, she curses him. Marge grows a beard from head to toe, Bart’s neck lengthens, and Lisa transforms into a centaur. Is it possible for them to break the curse and return to normalcy?
The family home in House of Whacks is transformed into a sentient “ultrahouse,” voiced by Pierce Brosnan. The house falls in love with Marge and attempts to murder Homer, which is initially a wonderful change. Will they be able to flee their stalker-infested new digs?
Bart and Lisa are wizards learning magic at school in Wiz Kids. Bart is envious of Lisa’s abilities and seeks to outshine her, finding an ally in Dark Lord Montymort. Can Bart beat the black wizard and rescue his sister when his guilt gets the best of him?
What’s the Point of This Episode? The initial portion hasn’t held up well over time. It’s rife with racist prejudices and often employs an ethnic slur. The second is a step forward, although it has pace issues. The third one is just sloppy, opting for random magic jokes rather than sticking to the parody. It’s not like the authors were short on ideas; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire had already been released.
#2 Horror Treehouse 21
Jumanji, Dead Calm, and Twilight are all parodies.
Officer “I’m not a fan of the knight’s appearance, chief!” Lou exclaims. “Don’t worry, we’re safe,” Chief Wiggum says. He’s one step to the right and two steps away. [suffers a crushing blow] AH! For me, it’s all about the game… set… match…” “I believe you mean check and mate,” Lou says. “I was basically smashed by a gigantic horse, Lou,” Wiggum says. Do you want to give me a break?”
21st Treehouse of Horror
Many shows get to the point where they’re just going through the motions. In a nutshell, it sums up this episode.
After Marge disapproves of their video games, Bart and Milhouse play a satanic board game in War and Pieces. Other board games are brought to life by the game, and things will only return to normal after it is completed. Can Bart and Milhouse rescue the town by avoiding the rampaging board games?
Homer and Marge go on a second honeymoon aboard a luxury boat in Master and Cadaver. They find a castaway who claims to be the only survivor of a ship whose passengers and crew had been poisoned. Homer believes he is the murderer, but is it all in his head?
Tweenlight watches Lisa fall in love with Edmund, a new student who she soon discovers is a vampire. Edmund and his father, Count Dracula, are invited to supper, where the parents humiliate the young lovers. They flee to be with one other. Will Homer and Dracula be able to locate their children before doing something they’ll come to regret?
Why this Episode? : The name of the game in this episode is laziness. The first portion is made up of a collection of loosely related board game allusions tied together by conversation. The second is tedious and mimics a film that the majority of spectators have never watched. The Twilight parody is a squandered opportunity, since the series could use some scathing humour. At the very least, Daniel Radcliffe as the vampire is a plus.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Dexter, and Avatar are all parodies.
Crook: [as Homer attacks him] “He’s got the strength of a paralyzed spider proportionately!” “Screw paying for my kids’ education; I’m outta here!” says Crook 2.
22. Treehouse of Horror (Season 23, Episode 3)
Folks, we’ve discovered it. By far the worst Treehouse of Horror. The cream of the crop.
The Butterball and the Diving Bell After being bitten by a spider, Homer becomes completely paralyzed. As everyone tries to adjust, his life begins to worsen until he finds he can communicate… by farting the alphabet. Yes, it’s true. Another spider attacks him just as he begins to adjust to his new existence. What is this one going to do?
Flanders becomes an assassin for God, who sends him out to murder His enemies in Dial D for Diddly. Despite his aversion to killing, Flanders shows to be an expert at it. But why does God delegate His task to Flanders, and why does He have so many adversaries in common with Homer Simpson? And why does Treehouse appear three times in the Dial parody?
Krusty has sent an army of space marines to the Na’vi to collect a rare ingredient to help him amuse Neo Nazis. To serve as an infiltrator, Bart’s consciousness is transplanted into a cloned alien body. He falls in love with one of the aliens right away, but will he be able to stop the battle from escalating? Why is this such a ridiculous plot?
What’s the Point of This Episode? A fart joke is built up in the first part. Even if it wasn’t low-brow, it’s not humorous, and it concludes with a Spider-Man spoof that makes no sense. The second section is OK, although the story twist is apparent. The ending scene is forgettable, and it was released years after Avatar was relevant. The episode as a whole is a waste of time.
